Universal Parks and Resorts has rebranded as Universal Destinations and Experiences this week. Universal Orlando resort also got a set of new logos

The city council in Frisco, Texas approved a conditional use permit for the Universal Studios development announced last month.

Merlin Entertainments has announced it will build a new Peppa Pig Theme Park in North Richland Hills, near Fort Worth in Texas.

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro showed off a roller skating Judy Hopps robot at a presentation at South By Southwest this week.

Disney has announced Destination D23 for Walt Disney World in September, with tickets on sale next Tuesday 

Universal studios Japan has open its new No Limit! Parade featuring Mario and Pokémon characters in a parade for the first time

Universal Studios Florida has closed its nighttime spectacular, Universal Orlando's Cinematic Celebration this week.

Water ride Aquaman: Power Wave officially opens today at Six Flags Over Texas.

Bruce Vaughn is returning to Walt Disney Imagineering, as it’s new Chief Creative Officer.

Dutch theme park Efteling announced it broke its All-Time Attendance Record in 2022

March 4th - Theme Park News in a Nutshell

 • Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival returned on Friday with a major feature being Plant-based good.

In a rare double victory for our vegan friends, Universal Orlando have started selling a dairy free version of their frozen and regular butterbeer drinks.

Disney have a released a teaser trailer for the upcoming Haunted Mansion movies, which releases in July.

Josh Gad took a turn being a Jungle Cruise skipper this week.

Six Flags have had a mixed week, announcing they have extended their Coca-Cola partnership, announcing declining profits and attendance as well as announcing their 2023 new attractions. The new attractions included 3 kids coasters across the chain, two based on Kid Flash and one Formula 1 themed called Rookie Racer.

Busch Gardens Tampa have opened swing ride, Serengeti Flyers this week.

January 28th Theme Park News in a Nutshell

 • Disneyland resort has opened previewed their two upcoming nighttime spectaculars, world of Color one and Wonderous journey as the Disney company launches its 100 year anniversary celebrations.

Disney has announced that Tron light cycle run will make use of a virtual queue with no standby queue.

New restaurant Roundup Rodeo BBQ will open March 23 inside Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Alton towers in the UK have announced the third iteration of their haunted house dark ride will be called The Curse at Alton Manor.

Australian park Movie World has closed its Scooby Doo Spooky coaster for an extended refurbishment, but have said the ride should reopen in 2024. They’ve also officially announced new kids ride Marvin the Marian Cosmic Boom currently under construction at the park.

A Stunt Performer was Injured During Waterworld Show at universal studios Hollywood this week. The performer was pulled from the water, required CPR and remains in hospital.

San Diego's Sesame Place has announced it will be upgrading its splash area counts splash castle, and adding a character dining location this year.

Dreamworld - New Year's Day 2023


The Queensland school holidays are notoriously busy for visiting theme parks. The long holidays and warm weather bring out many guests. The only non-busy period time that I've seen is the morning of New Year's day, and this year we took advantage of this buy visiting Dreamworld, for the first day of 2023. Come along with us as we hit some of the fun family attractions, and visit a number of the soon to close Dreamworks Experience attractions. Enjoy!

Epcot has renamed the sections of the theme park's parking lot to Disney characters

Disneyland’s version of Mickey and Minnie’s runaway railway will use a virtual queue when it opens next week. The ride will have no standby option.

Disneyland has resumed sales of its Magic Key annual passes using an online queuing system until sold out.

Merlin has announced what rides will be part of Jumanji-themed land at Chessington World of Adventures. The anchor will be a B&M wing coaster called Mandrill Mayhem and it will be flanked by two flat rides called Mamba Strike and Ostrich Stampede.

Universal Hollywood has announced that their version of The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen will open January 27th.

Universal Orlando has announced the first concerts for this year's Mardi Gras festival, with the first featuring music icon Patti LaBelle.

Six Flags Over Georgia announced it’s bring a Skyline Attractions P'Sghetti Bowl Children's Coaster to the park this year.

Theme Park News in a Nutshell - January 14th 2023

 Here is this week's Theme Park News:

Universal Studios Hollywood soft opened its Super Nintendo World for 'technical rehearsals' this week ahead of its February opening 

Universal Parks and Resorts have announced they are opening a small child focussed theme park in Frisco, Texas. The park is going to be 97 acres and rumours suggest it will be themed to Dreamworks.

They also announced that they will be bringing a year round Halloween Horror Night style haunt in Las Vegas.

The Walt Disney World Resort announced that TRON Lightcycle Run will open officially at the Magic Kingdom on April 4

There was a bunch of smaller WDW announcements this week with:

Disney Resort hotels getting free overnight parking again

Free digital Ride Photos for those that purchase the Genie+ service 

annual passholders no longer needing to make reservations to visit in the afternoons and evenings in coming months 

Disneyland's French Market restaurant and Mint Julep Bar are going to transformed into Tiana's Palace from the Princess and the frog.

The Earl of sandwich is getting another temporary home at Disneyland Resort at the location of the closing of the La Brea Bakery.

Mission: Ferrari coaster has opened officially at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
